Recently, we went through a nightmare of a couple of months. My nephew was experiencing all of his usual symptoms; seizures, hallucinations, psychosis, dementia, memory loss, cognitive decline, slurred speech, rage…
It was rough.
And because of it, of course, he could not go to school. And when respite support was unavailable, I was caring for him. And I missed a lot of work. Of course, I worked all of the missed hours from home but... I was simply unreliable.
The world doesn’t care why you miss work, just that you’re not available to do what you’re expected to do. Of course, I was let go. And I don’t blame them. I quite understand their position, regardless of my own.
But even when the writing was already on the wall, I felt very much at peace with it.
I had left it in God’s hands. If he had a plan for everything to work out, it would work out. If he had better plans for me, then he would shut the door. And I would not bang on it to open again. There’s another door waiting for me.
And so I waited. I started writing more. I spent more time on my mental health. I went on a couple of hikes.
And then, an opportunity came knocking.
Years ago, I worked for an amazing company called InspireHUB. I absolutely loved my time there. Best job I ever had!
But when Covid happened, and downsizing occurred, I was let go. But I never stopped loving the company, and I never stopped using their award-winning IHUBApp® Digital Experience Platform.
My personal blog site,
which I built using their platform. I just recently coded some new buttons for the main menu. And boy did they turn out nice… if I do say so myself! I even added a button to link directly to my Medium profile. It is my one-stop social media blog hub, to access all of my writing.
It’s been nice spending time working on it again.
And, I recently build another one,
which is a project that is near and dear to me. Project Rollplay is a program I am developing to use Dungeons & Dragons to help children and youth with Mental Health.
Whether they are dealing with racism, bullying, problems at home or school, or social anxiety, Project Rollplay can help tackle these themes in a safe and fun fantasy environment.
Learning Through Play is a concept that has been around since the days of Freud. I know it can help.
But don’t take my word for it. If you get a chance, read the testimony of Sang Hoang, 16, How Tabletop Games Helped Me Learn to Love Myself, I think you’ll be just as blown away as I was reading his story. I had no idea the impact we were having.
And now I have a chance to return to my roots as a Referral Partner with InspireHUB.
What does that mean?
If you want your own Digital Experience Platform (DXP), I can get help get you started. And if you need help building and designing it, I can help with that too.
While the platform has many uses and is used in a variety of different ways, I feel there is a completely untapped market that could really benefit from its use. And that market is… Blogging.
As you can see from both of my apps, this is a fantastic platform for blogs. Like having your own personal Facebook for your own personal writing. Merging together the best of both a website and an app.
You can have multiple writers and even hundreds of writers on the same hub. Categories and channels are easily built for any and all topics. Users can Register and Sign-In to gain access to even more content. And the customization options are endless. Not to forget, I can help code in a little customization myself, should you need it.
I am so happy to be partnering with InspireHUB as it allows me the work-life balance I’ve desperately needed to help care for my nephew.
I'm so excited!
